According to a new American study, the fight against climate change in an economically sustainable way requires many measures and means. Forbes reports that the recently published study of the independent research institute EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) shows that in order to manage climate change, several energy technologies must be used. In addition to renewable energy and energy saving, nuclear power is also needed.
According to the EPRI analysis, the United States needs to construct 45 new nuclear reactors. The institute also proposes that carbon capture in coal plants must be developed, electricity consumption must be lowered through energy use efficiency and the use of wind, solar and biomass energy must be increased.
EPRI points out that even though cutting emissions generates costs, the wide use of various technologies helps to reduce the costs to the economy.
