Bloomberg reports that E.ON is going to invest SEK 500 million (some EUR 52 million) in wind power in Sweden next year.

The investment brings 16 new wind mills to Smaland, north from Gothenburg and to the country's south-west cost north from Helsingborg. E.ON informs in its press release that the energy produced with the new wind mills corresponds to the needs of 16 000 family houses. CO2 emissions decrease by 60 000 tons per year.

The investment is a part of a seven-year program during which the German E.ON invests SEK 58 billion (some EUR 6 billion) in Sweden in its nuclear power plants and in renewable energy sources.

Two weeks ago the Swedish government voted yes to nuclear power: according to the decision, the current ten nuclear power plants in Sweden can be replaced with new ones in the future.

Jonas Abrahamsson, CEO of E.ON Nordic says in the company's press release that renewables are an essential part of E.ON’s energymix in which nuclear power has an important part as well.
