The United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA reports that global interest in nuclear power is rising. At the end of last year, 438 nuclear plants in the world supplied some 14 per cent of the world’s electricity.

IAEA stresses that every country does have the right to use nuclear power as an energy source, but they also have the responsibility to employ this source safely.
