Sweden’s nuclear safety authority (SSM) has put Ringhals nuclear power plant in special observation due to safety deficiencies that have been occurring since the year 2005 according to Helsingin Sanomat.

SSM requires that the main owner of Ringhals, Vattenfall, must start urgent action in order to improve the safety of the plant. The head of the plant has stated that the criticism is justified and that it will motivate improvements.

There are four reactors in Ringhals nuclear power plant. They produce one fifth of Sweden’s electricity.
