Fennovoima has two reactor design alternatives

Fennovoima is preparing the construction of a nuclear power plant rated 1800 MW electric at the most.

Fennovoima has two alternatives for the plant design: EPR by Areva NP and ABWR by Toshiba Corporation.

Areva EPR is an advanced pressurized water reactor rated about 1,700 MW electric.

Toshiba ABWR is an advanced boiling water reactor rated about 1,600 MW electric.

Fennovoima will select its plant design in 2012 or 2013. Production of electricity is planned to be started in 2020 at the earliest.
