Schedule

The process aiming at constructing a new nuclear power plant consists of several phases and it progresses in close cooperation with citizens, experts, authorities, and other involved parties.

Fennovoima was established in 2007.

Fennovoima submitted its application for the Decision-in-Principle to the Finnish Goverment in January 2009.

The Finnish Government granted Fennovoima a Decision-in-Principle in May 2010, and in July 2010 Parliament ratified it.

Fennovoima will make the final site selection on the beginning of 2011 at the latest.

After receiving a construction license for a nuclear power plant, Fennovoima will begin the construction work of the nuclear power plant in 2012. Before the plant begins operations, Fennovoima will file an application for an operating license.

Fennovoima expects to start the operation of its nuclear power plant by 2020.
